HAROLD SNOWDEN HELMS 1919-2000.
Harold Snowden HELMS passed away on July 21. Mr. HELMS was born on June 10, 1919 in Cripple Creek, Colorado. Mr. HELMS had been an Eagle resident since 1939.
Mr. HELMS was a member of the United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4335, American Legion Post 150, and was a past commander of both posts for more than 10 years. Mr. HELMS served in the United States Army during World War II. He received the Bronze Star for his conduct during the war. He was also awarded the Purple Heart but turned that award down.
Mr. HELMS is survived by his wife, Mavis HELMS; his children Billie Allen (Duane) KAHLING of Grand Junction, Janice Marie STRAUSS of Westminister, and Brenda Kay (Joe) ROBIDOUX of Wright, Wyoming; one brother, John HELMS of Eagle; two sisters: Mildred SODERSTROM of Tucson, Arizona, and Mary Lee HENNIGER of Lindon, Michigan; grandchildren: Keri (Rick) Smith, Stephen, Chris, and Raymond (Dianne), James (Steph) ROBIDOUX, and Jeri (Andy) JACOBSON; great-grandchildren: John, Michael, Marianna, Linda, Monty, Jessica, Brannon, and Ryan.
Mr. HELMS was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby WINTERS, his father, Harold C. HELMS, and his brother, Bill HELMS. A memorial service was held at the Community United Methodist Church in Eagle on Monday, July 24.
