Grand Junction, died August 17,
2010, at Palisades Living Center.
Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday
at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday
at Callahan-Edfast. Military
honors are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at
Veterans Memorial Cemetery
of Western Colorado.
Survivors include three
daughters, Susan Kerschen of
Broomfi eld, Marjie Brenner
of Tulsa, Okla., and Julie
McEndree of Grand Junction;
six grandchildren; one greatgrandchild;
and two great-greatgrandchildren.

Walter, 80, was born in Cheyenne,
Wyoming to Carl Hofferber
and Anna Kreiger. He spent his
childhood in Wellington and Fort
Collins, Colorado. He served in
the US Navy from 1950-1954,
and was very passionate about his
military service and issues concerning
Veterans.
He had been a resident of Grand
Junction for 50 years, working as
a Customer Engineer for I.B.M.
for many years. His interests included
playing cribbage and
bridge and fishing on the Mesa,
and was a member of the “Over
the Hill Gang” for several years.
He was previously married to
Anita Becktell and she and their
three daughters survive: Susan
(Mike) Kerschen of Broomfield,
CO; Marjie (Richard) Brenner of
Tulsa, OK; and Julie (Gale)
McEndree of Grand Junction.
Walter is also survived by 6 Granddaughters: Patty, Sarah, Kaina,
Mollie, Anna and Jordan, and 3 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded
in death by his parents and 3 brothers.
Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 20th and a funeral
service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010
both at Callahan Edfast Mortuary. Military honors are scheduled for
1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery
of Western Colorado.
