Mary Garcia, longtime resident of Minturn, Gypsum, Eagle and, more recently, Clifton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Epifanio; her son Frank; grandsons Joel Leyba and Randy Garcia; and her parents. She was 86 years old.
Mary moved to the Eagle Valley in the early '50s with her husband and children. They lived in Minturn for several years. She was employed by the Sonnenalp in Vail as a housekeeper.
Mary is survived by her children, Epi Jr., Rose (Steven Ransom), Roger (Connie), Joan (Jake Norton), Gloria Vasquez, Elbert and Debbie (Jerre Fleming). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. with funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, located at 900 Second St. in Gypsum. Burial will be immediately after at the Cedar Hill Cemetery. A reception is planned after the burial service.
