Harold "Elmer" Blackmore, age
79, of Rifle passed away June 12,
2011 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Elmer was born February 12,
1932, in Rifle to Raymond and
Nettie (Wright) Blackmore. He
proudly served his country in the
US Air Force after graduating
from Rifle Union High School. Elmer married the love of his life,
Beverly June Stouder, in July 3, 1953 at Langley Air Force Base;
they had two children.
Elmer owned and operated Blackmore's Metal Mart and Centennial
Gardens in Rifle. He was always trying something new and different
and wore many hats during his working years. He was a lifelong
member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he was a
Trustee, and an Elder. He loved his church family dearly. Elmer was
also a proud member of the local American Legion.
Elmer leaves behind his wife of almost 58 years, Beverly Blackmore;
daughters, Lynn Simpson and Roxann (Sam) Dickson; grandchildren,
Tera (Julian) Balerio, Josh Simpson, Jeff (Margaret) Simpson
and Tori (Ben) Ackerman; great-grandchild, Leonardo Balerio;
nieces, Kim (Peter) Jessup and Colleen (Glenn) Damrow, and nephews,
Tom (Sherry) High, Jr., and Kenney (Kathy) Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Lorraine and Rip Kelly, and Dorothy and Tom
High, and aunt and uncle Harold and Alta Blackmore.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for
Saturday, June 18, 11:00 a.m at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in
Rifle. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rifle at a later
date.
