Delcie Salazar, 87, of Edwards and Carbondale, passed away Friday.
Delcie was born April 19, 1924, to Henry and Clofas Martinez in Aguilar. Delcie was born in the small town of Aguilar. She relocated to La Veta, where she met her husband, Louis Salazar, whom she married in 1945. They were married for 51 years before his passing. In the early 1950s, they moved to Edwards, where they raised their 12 children.
Delcie is survived by her sons Fred and Floyd (Rose) Salazar, of Gypsum; daughters Connie Fischer, of McLaughlin, S.D., Gloria Serna, of Gypsum, Eileen Valdez (Walter), of Minturn, Marie Jalbert (Edward), of Gypsum, Charlotte Norvell, of Glenwood Springs, and Patricia Salazar (Steve), of Mandan, N.D.; brother David Martinez, of Walsenburg; sister Beatrice Baca, of Walsenburg; 44 grand children; 71 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Delcie is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Salazar; other family members Andrew Salazar, Patsy Salazar, Lillian Salazar, Annabelle Salazar, John Salazar and Robert Atencio; grandson Jimmy Serna; and granddaughter Shelly Atencio.
There will be rosary at 6:30 p.m. today at the St. Mary's Church in Eagle. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary's Church in Eagle, with burial to follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum.
