Steamboat Pilot

James LeRoy Cullen, 32, died Dec. 21 of a heart attack at his residence in the Dream Island complex west of downtown Steamboat Springs. He was a lifetime resident of this community. A self-employed truck driver, Mr. Cullen is survived by his wife, Christina. They were wed June 8, 1974, and have one stepson, David.
He is also bereaved by his mother, Christina Werner, Steamboat Springs; two brothers, William Cullen, Walden, Colorado, and Dennis Cullen, Craig, Colorado; and by four sisters, Mary Winn, Carol Winograsky and Irene Wille, all residents of Steamboat Springs, and Betty Counter, Broomfield, Colorado.
Mr. Cullen was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Army from September 1965 to June 1967.
Funeral services for the deceased were conducted Thursday afternoon, December 23, at the Root Mortuary Chapel by Father David Croak. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 4264 at the Steamboat Springs Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Bob Dorr, Larry Belton, Newton Dorr, Bob Werner, Leon Wisner and Larry Vanatta. Soloist Jack Reid and Organist Carol Werner offered “Silent Night” and “Beyond the Sundet.”
Mr. Cullen’s family has requested that donation –in lieu of flowers- be made to the Routt County Memorial Hospital in care of the Routt County National Bank.
