William E. Lacy of Fruita, Colorado,
passed away peacefully at
the Hospice Care Center in Grand
Junction, Colorado, at the age of
91 years on October 26, 2011.
William was born on December
10, 1919 in Gloucester, New Jersey
to Elmer and Irene Lacy and
spent most of his life in New Jersey.
He was a graduate of Drexel
University in Philadelphia, PA. with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He served as a Naval Captain of an amphibious landing
ship during World War II. William worked at the New York Naval
Ship Yard in Philadelphia for 35 years and then for J. Henry Company
doing government consulting regarding ship building. He had a
passion for sports, especially baseball. He spent his remaining years
in Dunedin, Florida, and then was cared for by his twin daughters,
Karen Mascitelli and Sharon Bruner.
William is survived by his twin daughters, Sharon Bruner of Fruita,
Colorado; and Karen Mascitelli of Corona del Mar, California. He
was predeceased by his wife, Maggie Lacy of Dunedin, Florida; his
son, Dr. Richard Lacy of Stockbridge, Georgia; and his brother
Raymond Lacy of Satellite Beach, Florida. He is also survived by
nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A Military Memorial Service is planned at the Veterans Cemetery
of Western Colorado on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 3 p.m. Contributions
