Beloved father, grandfather, son,
brother, uncle and friend, Reverend
Paul Abner Perea Jr. received
his greatest Christmas gift
and was ushered into heaven to
meet our Master on Christmas
Eve, December 24th, 2011 at his
home in Rifle, CO. Paul was born
on September 6th, 1950 to Reverend Paul P. and Carmen Perea on
the family ranch in Edith, CO.
Paul had a passion for music and was an exceptional self taught
musician, playing the piano, guitar and singing. He followed in his
fathers footsteps, learning carpentry and entering God's ministry in
1980, pastoring Zion Assembly of God in Grand Junction until
1989. After moving to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1989, he gave his
heart to his spanish church mission, Cristo La Roca in New Castle,
where he pastored until his death. He will be remembered by everyone
he touched as a selfless, kind, caring and loving soul that
reached thousands of lives.
His faith, family, ministry and the insurmountable love in his heart
were the foundations of his life. He leaves behind his one and only
love, wife, Carol, married 43 years and his children, son, Paul J.
Perea, wife, Clarice and grandchildren, Talon and Hannah of Grand
Junction; daughter, Tanya, husband, John Doose and grandchildren,
Max and Ashley of Rifle; as well as his mother, Carmen Perea and
sister, Naomi Abeyta of Grand Junction. He is preceded in death by
his father and mentor, Reverend Paul P. Perea Sr.
He leaves behind countless family and friends.
Words can never express the loss our hearts feel and the outpouring
of love and support has been the families strength. A celebration
of his life will begin with a viewing on Thursday, December 29th at
Junction Community Church (Zion Assembly of God), 2867 Orchard
Ave., Grand Junction, from 6 - 8:00 p.m. and memorial service
at Victory Life Church in Fruita beginning at 10:00 am with
burial following at Palisade Cemetery where he will be laid to rest
beside his father. A luncheon will follow immediately after burial at
J.C.C. (Zion). Memorial contributions can be sent to Carol Perea,
464 West 3rd St., Rifle, CO.
