Eagle Valley Enterprise - October 12, 1978

John Caddy, 82, of Eagle, Colo. died October 6, 1978. He was born June 23, 1896 at Redruth, Cornwall, England. At the age of nine, he came with his parents to Leadville, Colo. where he attended school. John married Ruth M. Miller on June 9, 1923, and retired in Eagle in 1967.
John Caddy worked for the New Jersey Zinc Company for 44 years as a chemist. He was a member of the Eagle United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge No. 43 in Minturn of which he was a past Master, the Eastern Star No. 86 of Eagle, Past Commander of the American Legion Post No. 47 of Redcliff, and a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife Ruth M. Caddy, three daughters: Marjorie Seawalt of Commerce City, Colo., Virginia Bowman of Algood, Tenn., Juanita Mossman of Moraga, Calif. and seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the Masonic Hall at Eagle with the Reverend Steve Goodier officiating. Masonic graveside services were held at the Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle.
Those who wish may contribute to a memorial fund in memory of John Cady at the First bank of Eagle County in Eagle, Colo.
Farnum-Richardson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
