Harold J. “Bud” Burr of Greeley, a former Eagle resident, died Aug. 25 at Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was 78 years old.

Bud was born Dec. 29, 1927 in Guthrie County, Iowa, to Willis Lovell and Minnie Blanche (Hall) Burr.

He married Peggy L. Steen on June 25, 1952 in Guthrie Center.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-48. He enjoyed driving sprint cars in competition. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church and served as leader of the Walther League. He also was a 4-H leader.

Bud was a quiet, gentle and considerate man. Prior to moving to Greeley, Bud and his wife Peggy lived in Eagle for 41 years. Bud worked for the Colorado Department of Highways.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Greeley; a daughter, Vicki L. Garcia and husband Rudy of Greeley; a son, Danny Jay Burr and wife Yvonne of Kremmling; a brother, Eugene H. Burr and wife Margery J. of Guthrie Center; two grandchildren, Erin Ashley and Cory Daniel Burr of Kremmling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clifford W. Burr, Dale H. Burr, Donald Burr; and two sisters, Dollie Mae Van Sickler and Margaret Pearl Samuell.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Eaton. Bud’s ashes will be scattered at Linn Grove Cemetery.
