Kenny and Candi Kawcak welcomed Jason Adam Kawcak and his twin brother, Justin, into their lives Jan. 8, 1987. Jason found heaven after an accident at Colowyo Coal Co. on July 14, 2012, while doing what he loved to do — being a coal miner.
Growing up, Jason found friendships that lasted through thick and thin. A lifelong Craig resident, he graduated from Moffat County High School in 2006. Jason enjoyed playing football and was a team captain and homecoming king his senior year.
After graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and spent time with Jenison Custom Builders and Snyder and Counts Feed. In addition to his numerous occupations, Jason also worked alongside his family at Lube Plus, insisting that “somebody had to run the show.” He most recently was a proud haul-truck driver at Colowyo Coal Co. and was well respected by his fellow co-workers. While at the mine, Jason enjoyed the time he spent with C-Crew and was looking forward to opportunities with the blasting crew and other mine adventures.
Jason was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was devoted to Bear River Young Life. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying hunting, fishing, boating and Lake Havasu every chance he got. A cowboy at heart, he loved branding, welding, building fence, the family farm and everything outdoors. Hardworking, caring and passionate, he was a joy to be around. Jason will be remembered for his charismatic smile, mischievous grin, legendary sayings and all the lives he affected so positively.
Jason is survived by his parents, Kenny and Candi; twin brother, Justin; grandparents Mickey and Bonnie Green; and grandfather Mike Kawcak, all of Craig. He also is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Colleen Kawcak.
The family has requested that donations be made in Jason’s name to Bear River Young Life.
