Lorayne E. "Mickey" Maijala passed away Dec. 30, 2007, at the Doak Walker Care Center in Steamboat Springs. She was 86.
Mickey was born April 2, 1921, in Bena, Minn., to Walter and Emma Seelye.
In September 1943, Mickey married the love of her life, Art Maijala, in Deer River, Minn. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Yampa, where they owned and operated the Colorado Spruce Company sawmill and Yampa Lumber Yard.
Survivors include her two sons, Allen and wife Candy of Evergreen; John of Yampa; grandson Scott of Steamboat Springs; and granddaughter Devani Ann of New Canaan, Conn.; two brothers, Jack and Irving Seelye of Bena, Minn.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mickey was preceded in death by her husband; son Bill; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Jan. 4, 2008, at St. Martin of Tours in Oak Creek. Burial was at the Yampa Cemetery, where Mickey was laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Art.
