Patrick Harold McCormick was born August 16, 1927, in Fenton,
Michigan. He died peacefully on April 15th, 2013, at Family Health
West in Fruita, Colorado surrounded by family.
Pat McCormick was a widower who is survived by his daughter,
Sienna Marie Wise, and his sons, Michael McCormick and Andy
McCormick, both of Grand Junction, Colorado. His son, Tom Mc-
Cormick preceded him in death. Mr. McCormick was also preceded
in death by his second wife, Luella, in 2000. Pat has seven grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren who live in Virginia, Florida,
Grand Junction and England.
Pat was proud of the time he spent in the Navy in the 1940s. Pat
became a truck driver and joined the Teamsters Union after his time
in the Navy concluded. His career in truck driving took him to
nearly every corner of the country. During this time he perfected the
art of meeting new people, he rarely viewed people he didn't know
as strangers, instead he viewed them as friends yet to become acquainted!
He enjoyed volunteering at the VA Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona
and the Senior Center in Payson, Arizona prior to moving to
Grand Junction in 2007. Pat made many friends while volunteering
at the Grand Junction VA Medical Center. He valued those friend -
ships dearly.
Pat's family will forever be grateful for the wonderful care he received
by the staff of the VA Medical Center and its Transitional
Care Unit, the nursing home staff at Family Health West and caring
professionals at Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado.
A service was held for Pat at the time of his passing. It was his
wish to donate his body to science and research therefore there will
be no burial service.
