Pete passed away in his sleep at
his home in Ft. Christmas, FL on
April 12th.
He is survived by his son, Mike
Poston of Ft. Christmas, FL; two
daughters, Lorie Williams of
Ocala, FL, and Bridget Dowd of
Colorado Springs. Pete also had
f i v e g r a n d c h i l d r e n a n d o n e
great-grandchild. He joined the
US Navy in 1955, and served out of Key West, FL on the submarine
tender ship Bushnell and was honorably discharged in 1959.
He met Peggy Johnson shortly thereafter and they married in 1960.
He was employed by Jack Rabbit express as an airline caterer and
Golden Coach as a limousine driver during this time. Pete relocated
to Strasburg, CO sometime thereafter and then later moved to Grand
Junction in 1984. He worked at Fabricare for several years then decided
to move back to Florida around 2004 to enjoy his retireme nt
with his children.
Pete's hobbies included coin collecting, fishing, camping, crossword
puzzles, drives across the Colorado Mountains and occasion -
ally a stop at a casino to plug a slot machine or two.
Pete is also survived by his brothers, George and Dan Poston of
Strasburg; sisters, Mary Henderson and Juanita Bonds of Grand
Junction, and several nieces and nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by his father, Fred Poston, and mother,
Esther; brother, Richard; sister-in-law, Janie Coontz, and niece,
Tammy Alexander.
