Betty Jane Hunter also known as Elizabeth, was born on November 20, 1931, in Oak Creek, Colorado the daughter of Andrew and Bessie (Stark) Meach. She was raised and attended school in Oak Creek. Betty married Walter Hunter on February 27, 1951, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They became the parents of four children and made their home in Oak Creek and Arvada, Colorado and Lincoln, Arkansas prior to moving to Craig in 2001. Betty was a homemaker and an avid reader. She was also very fond of her children and grandchildren and was always supportive of all of them in their various activities. Betty died on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. She was 82. Betty is survived by her daughters Beverly Renee (Mike) Martindale, of Oak Creek, Kathy (Lee) Brewer, of Lincoln, AR and Cindy Hunter (Vince Goltz) of Mosier, OR;
Her son Randy Hunter of Craig; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; her sister Dolores (Robert) Rogers of Yampa; her sister-in-law Yvonne Meach of Windsor, CA and her brothers and sisters-in- law on Walters side Tom and Jackie Hunter of California and Jim and Cecile Hunter of Livermore, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, her brother Robert Meach, daughter in law Sherry Hunter, and granddaughter Patricia Martindale. Cremation has taken place and memorial services were held on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the South Routt Baptist Church with Phil Coleman officiating. Interment of her cremains followed in the Oak Creek Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Grant Mortuary.
