Eagle County Blade page 3 - December 6, 1900

Claude G. Hicks, formerly station agent for the Denver & Rio Grande railroad at this place, died yesterday morning at Olathe, this state. Mr. Hicks had been in poor health for several years with lung trouble, and left Red Cliff about a year ago in the hope of prolonging his life in a lower altitude. Deceased was a young man of many estimable traits of character and his untimely death will be learned with sincere regret by many friends here as well as elsewhere. He was one of the most popular men ever in charge of the Red Cliff station, and was invariably obliging and cheerful notwithstanding constant physical suffering. Mrs. Hicks and an infant son survive him, and to them this community will extend heartfelt sympathy. The bereaved wife will leave today for the old home in Illinois with the remains.
