Erick Gustafson, familiarly known about Red Cliff as “Big Erick,” died last week at the hospital at Glenwood Springs. Mr. Gustafson was a native of Sweden, and was a man of uncommonly large build and was noted for his great strength. For years he had lived in the vicinity of Red Cliff, mostly on Homestake creek, prospecting, wood chopping and ranching. Several months ago he began to fail in health and experienced a rapid decline. His ailment was in the nature of heart disease and rheumatism, and for several months prior to his death he could move about with difficulty. Deceased was about 60 years of age and so far as known had no relatives in this part of the country.
