Louis A. Taylor
July 1, 1926 - December 24, 2013
Louis Albert Taylor, age 87, passed away peacefully at
HopeWest Hospice Care Center on Tuesday, December 24, 2013.
He was born to Alfred and Inza Taylor on July 1, 1926, in Palisade,
Colorado. Louis had two brothers and one sister. Louis married
Gwendolyn Hunt in 1951. They had three daughters, and Louis and
Gwendolyn later divorced. Louis then married Shirley Moore in 1975.
Louis enlisted in the Army in 1944, and retired in 1966. He received
numerous commendations for his service in World War II, Korea and
Vietnam. Following his military career, Louis worked at the Grand
Junction Water Treatment Plant for many years until his second
retirement. He enjoyed spending time at the VFW, where he was
affectionately known as “Uncle Lou”. He enjoyed fishing, bowling,
rodeos, watching westerns and military movies. He especially enjoyed
the time he spent with his step-grandson, Richard Lemoine. He also
loved his dogs.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Inza; his
brothers, Lynn and Nolan; sister, Florence; daughter, Kathy Kendall;
second wife, Shirley, and step-daughter, Kathy Lemoine. Survivors
include his daughters, Karen (Ron) Miracle of Grand Junction; Lynn
(Robert) Emerson of Las Vegas, NV; step-daughter, Bonnie Kellerby of
CA; grandchildren, Stephen and Matthew Kendall, Zachariah (Manny)
Miracle, Zebulon (Jessica) Miracle, Tim Young, Jessica Young and
Joanna Young; step-grandchildren, Richard Lemoine, Danny Kellerby
and Michelle Kellerby; great-grandchildren, Kylee Young, Alexander
Miracle and Nathaniel Miracle; sister-in-law, Marge Montgomery, and
niece, Carrie Decker.
A memorial service will be held at Mesa Funeral Service, located at
2825 North Avenue on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. Interment
will immediately follow at the Grand Junction Veteran’s Memorial
Cemetery, located at 2830 D Road, Grand Junction, CO at 3:00 p.m.
Donations may be made in honor of Louis to HopeWest Hospice,
3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.

Louis Albert Taylor, 87, Grand Junction, died Dec. 24, 2013, at
HopeWest Hospice Care Center.
Services are pending with Mesa Funeral Service.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen Miracle of Grand Junction
and Lynn Emerson of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
