Michiko “Margie” Matsui Taber
passed away on April 21, 2014, at
the age of 86.
Margie was born on November
30, 1927, in Osaka Fu, Japan. She
resided there until she was united
in marriage to Melvin Lewis Taber
on October 10, 1955, in Tokyo,
Japan. Margie then moved to the
U.S. and was a long-time resident of Palisade, Colorado. She was employed
at Ultronix, Inc as a bobbin maker for many years. After the
closing of the facility she worked part-time at Taber Body Paint and
Frame, and as a homemaker. Margie was active and worked almost
daily until the time of her illness.
Margie had a wonderful sense of humor, was fun loving, and adventurous.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sewing,
knitting, crocheting, travel, shopping, and enjoying life. Margie’s joy
was infectious. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by
many.
She was preceded in death by her father, Yasahachi Matsui; mother,
Komiko Matsui; her husband, Melvin L. Taber; father-in-law, George
W. Taber, and mother-in-law, Eva M. Taber. Margie is survived by her
son, George M. Taber of Grand Junction, CO; her two daughters, Eva
M. Waggoner of Palisade, CO, and Michiko “Mickey” Allen of Leslie,
MO; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three honorary
grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Special thanks are given to all of the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital
and the PARC at Larchwood Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful
care, kindness, and support given to Margie and her family during her
illness.
Visitation will be from 4 - 8:00 p.m. May 2, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. May 3, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary,
followed by burial at Palisade Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Strive: Attention
