his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grand Valley United
Methodist Church in Parachute.
Mr. Henk was a master carpenter.

Kenneth William Henk, age 85, formerly of Rifle, passed away unexpectedly
in his home in Grand Junction on July 18.
He was born April 25, 1929, in Elgin, IL, the son of Herman and
Francis M. (Foster) Henk. He grew up in Freeport, IL, and graduated
from high school in Elgin. On January 20, 1949, Ken married Beatrice
Arlene Coomber in Freeport.
From 1951 through 1955, Ken served in the U.S. Navy in the Navy
Construction Battalion (Seabees), stationed in the Western Pacific. After
his return from the service he worked on construction in northern
Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Since the late 1960’s the couple lived
in various Colorado communities, including Estes Park, Carbondale,
and Rifle. They moved to Grand Junction about eight years ago.
In Colorado, Ken had his own cement contracting business and did the
cement work for many Colorado schools and other buildings. He was
a master carpenter, building and remodeling homes and condos as well
as designing and building furniture. In recent years he worked part time
for a Mesa County private security company.
Beatrice passed away on May 5, 2013.
Ken is survived by several nieces and nephews, Lorraine (Dennis)
Brewer, Fayetteville, AR; Jeanne (Brad) Miller, Ft. Collins, CO, and
James (Eleanor) Coomber, Moorhead, MN, and brother-in-law, Malcolm
Coomber of Freeport, IL.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, at 11:00 a.m.
at the Grand Valley United Methodist Church in Parachute.
