Charles Allen Woodburn, 85, Grand Junction, died Jan. 7, 2015, at Hospice Care Center. Services will be later at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.Mr. Woodburn was a drywall finisher and Korean War veteran.He is survived by two daughters, Bobbi McNeal and Leah Mang-um, both of Grand Junction; two stepsons, Jack Dreiling of Colum-bia, Missouri, and Jerry Degenhart of Denver; one stepdaughter, Janette Sickles of Hotchkiss; one brother, Frank of Palisade; one sister, Rita Burns of Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grand-children.Memorial contributions to HopeWest and Hospice Care Center, 3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junction, 81506.

Charles Allen Woodburn, 85,
of Grand Junction, passed
away on January 7, 2015, at
HopeWest Hospice Center.
Charles was born on March
22, 1929, in Sharon Springs,
KC to Frank and Ruby
Woodburn.
There he spent his
childhood, and attended grade school. Upon the passing of his
father, his mother married Glen Bear and they moved to
Hotchkiss, CO, where Charles attended high school. He was
active in track and football, he set a record in 1947 for his
performance in the quarter mile. He spent his summers working
the family sawmill on Black Mesa. After high school he joined
the U.S. Military and was stationed in Panama for the period of
his service.
In 1957 he met and married Albertine “Tena” Degenhart of
Derby, CO. Charles worked as a drywall finisher for 45 years
and in his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching
football. He lived in Grand Junction most of his life.
The last years of his life he enjoyed watching his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.
He is survived by sisters, Rita Burns of Idaho, and Ann May of
Nebraska; brother, Frank Woodburn of Palisade, CO; daughters,
Bobbi McNeal and Leah (Kelly) Mangum of Grand Junction;
step-children, Jack Dreiling (widowed) of Columbia, MO;
Janet “Jannette” (Mason) Sickles of Hotchkiss, CO; Gerald
(Jacque) Degenhart of Thornton, CO; along with nine
grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife; two sisters; one
granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at
1:00 p.m. on March 27, 2015.
