Carl Leroy Grinstead
December 6, 1929 - January 15, 2015
Carl Leroy Grinstead, born December 6, 1929, in Ralston, Oklahoma, to Ross and Stella Grinstead, passed away on January 15, 2015. Carl is survived by his wife of 39 years, Twila; one stepson, Richard Frisbie, of Clifton; step-daughter, Tamara (Don) Barthel of Fair Oaks, California; nephew, Butch (Nadine) Grinstead and their family in Meeker, Colorado; nephew, Wayne (Oneita) Owen of Springfield, Missouri, and grandson, Tyler Gordon of Fair Oaks, California. Carl spent most of his youth in Windsor, Colorado, where he attended the Assembly of God Church. Carl proudly served in World War II and the Korean War with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was wounded in action in Korea and awarded the Purple Heart. Carl owned and operated C&T Modular and Mobile Home Setters and Towing for over 25 years. He loved to travel, attend rodeos, garden, and work in his shop. He loved going to the coffee shop with the guys daily and attended the Green River watermelon festival every year to eat as much watermelon as he possibly could. Carl had a special spot in his heart for little children and animals, especially dogs. Carl was preceded in death by five siblings. Please lift your next cup of coffee up in honor of Carl. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Roice Hurst Animal Shelter. A burial with full military honors will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado on Tuesday, January 20 at 1:00 p.m. followed at 2:30 p.m. by a memorial service at the Salvation Army at 1235 North 4th Avenue in Grand Junction. A dinner in honor of Carl will follow the memorial service. A special thank you to the caring staff at the VA Nursing Home in Grand Junction. These special people were so kind and loving to Carl and his family.
