Esther Fae Boulton
February 20, 1938 - April 15, 2015
Esther Fae Boulton, 77, of Longmont passed away April 15, 2015, at Aspen House in Loveland, CO.
She was born February 20, 1938, in Grand Junction, CO to John (Jack) and Viola (McPherson) Benson, the oldest of five children. Her family moved following her Dad’s jobs from De Beque to Rifle to Silt. She graduated from Silt High School in 1955.
In 1954 Esther met Bob Boulton when their families lived
across the road from each other in Dry Hollow. They were
married on May 28, 1955.
They built a home on the Boulton ranch, where Esther worked
alongside Bob and his parents, cooking meals for family and
ranch hands. She lovingly raised her two children, Susan and
Mark, entered County Fair events, kept a garden, and enjoyed taking ceramic classes. She sewed constantly making clothing for herself, Susan and even Mark. She also crocheted, knitted and embroidered.
Esther and Bob moved to Longmont in June of 1964, as Bob
started a business as a Snap-On Tool dealer. Esther had an
integral part in the business.
She joined a bowling league and bowled for years. She
continued gardening, sewing, other needle crafts and canning.
She and Bob enjoyed spending time exploring Colorado. They purchased snowmobiles in 1967 and their first camper in 1968.
Esther stayed close to her family and enjoyed many trips to the Western Slope that included stays at the Boulton cabin on the White River.
Esther is remembered as a beloved wife, mother and
grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and sister-in-law. After raising her own children, Esther and Bob lovingly invited nephew, Eric age three, and niece, Amy age two into their home and cared for them since 1978. She loved babies and children were a special delight to her.
She was a member at United Church of Christ Longmont and
was involved in many functions including serving on the altar
guild, helping with wedding receptions, the Christmas Home
tour and the semi-annual rummage sale. Esther was a true
servant of Jesus and followed in his steps, humbling herself to
others in all she did.
To celebrate Bob’s retirement from Snap-On they took a two
week trip to Hawaii and continued to travel extensively
throughout the United States, including a return trip to Hawaii
and an Alaskan cruise. They also journeyed to England. Esther made her final trip to the Boulton cabin in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Esther is survived by her loving husband, Bob; daughter,
Susan Boulton, Longmont; son, Mark Boulton (Beth), and
grandchildren, Anthony and Annabelle, Jacksonville, FL;
sisters, Velda (Bill Hoke), Callao, MO; Naomi (Bill Morse),
Molina, CO, and Terri Hargrove, Houston, TX; and brother,
Barry Benson (Carol), Johnstown, CO. She is also survived by
family she helped raise, nephew, Eric Benson (Shanti) of
Longmont; niece, Amy Benson of Colorado Springs and their
children, Paige, Kaylen and Michael, and numerous other loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015,
at Rifle Funeral Home. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rifle, CO.
