MRS. J. F. FIGGINS DIED THURSDAY MORNING.
Mrs. J. F. FIGGINS, 89, passed away at her home in Eagle Thursday morning, following an illness of several years. The deceased lady had been helpless for 5 or years, and her passing was not unexpected, all the children except one being present when she died. The deceased lady has been a resident of Eagle for nearly 40 years.
Funeral services were held today, Friday, Jan. 24, from the Andre Funeral home, with Rev. Paul A. SHIELDS in charge, and the body was laid to rest in the Eagle cemetery.

Melissa DAMON was born March 29, 1859, in the state of Missouri, and departed this life at her home in Eagle, Colo., of a heart ailment Jan. 23, 1947, at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 24 days. She was one of 8 children born to Leander BENTLEY and Mary L. DAMON.
She was living with her parents in Valisca, Ia., where she met and later was united in marriage to Joseph F. FIGGINS on Dec. 18, 1884, at Corning, Iowa. To this union were born 8 children. Three children and her husband have preceded her in death.
April 6, 1906, Mr. and Mrs. FIGGINS moved to Colorado where they engaged in ranching until ill health forced them to retire.
Mrs. FIGGINS was a loving mother and dutiful wife. The ties that bound her to her children and husband were very close. She devoted her whole life to them.
For the past five month she resided at her home in Eagle where her daughters, Hester, Lucy, Sadie and her son, George, and his wife lovingly cared for her. All but Lucy and a son, Frank, were at her bedside when she passed away.
Melissa FIGGINS, who was raised in the faith of the Methodist church, leaves five children--Hester and Sadie of Eagle; Lucy of Palisade; George of Burns; and Frank of Portland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one brother James DAMON of Bakersfield, Calif.; and many friends and neighbors to mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held from the Andre Funeral Home in Eagle on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Mae COX and Mrs. David ANDERSON sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere: and "Rock of Ages," accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Cora COOK. Rev. SHIELDS read several passages of scriptures and paid fitting tribute to the faithfullness [sic] of the deceased lady. Following the services, Mrs. FIGGINS was laid to rest at the side of her husband in the Eagle cemetery. Pall bearers were Gordon WHITTAKER, Wm. RANDALL, John CLARK, John VAN HORN, Virgil WILLIAMS, and G. D. ROBERTS.
