Raymond Kenneth Kuhlmann died March 13, 2001 at his home in Longmont. He was 63.

He was born Sept. 22, 1937 in Leoti, Kan. to Frederick and Emma (Goken) Kuhlmann. Ray was a 1957 graduate of Boulder High School.

He married Cathleen Horton Feb. 13, 1965 in Boulder.

He was drafted and entered the Army Nov. 7, 1960 and was discharged from active duty to the Army Reserves Nov. 6, 1962. He served in the Reserves until Nov. 1966. Mr. Kuhlman worked 30 years for Beech Aircraft in Boulder from 1958 until his health required him to retire in 1988. At Beech, his friends knew him as "Little Ray."

Raymond was a former member of the American Legion and a member of the Bearcat Radio Club.

He was an avid radio buff and enjoyed listening to police scanners which he had in every room of his house. Raymond was sports fan, following the Avalanche, Rockies and Broncos, especially with his late son Doug. He was much liked by all the neighborhood children who would often come to his door just to speak with him. He belonged to Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Longmont.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Kuhlmann of Longmont; a mother in-law, Thelma Horton of Longmont; a father in-law, Carl Horton of Denver; two brothers, Arlo Kuhlmann and wife Mary of Lincoln, Neb. and Darrel Kuhlmann and wife Gaye of Boulder; three sisters, Darlene Allen of Boulder; Vera Bennett of Boulder and Evlyn LaVoy of Broomfield; and numerous nieces; nephews; great neices and nephews and great great-neices and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Douglas Ray Kuhlmann Oct. 15, 2000; a brother and two sisters.

A viewing is from 3 to 8 p.m. March 16 and will proceed the funeral at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is at 2 p.m. March 17, 2001 at Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1221 17th Ave., Longmont. Cremation will follow funeral services at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor's choice in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
