Steamboat Pilot - May 26, 2001
James R. Fitzgerald of 1100 Central Park Dr., Steamboat Springs, died May 18, 2001, at the Doak Walker Care Center. He was 79.
Jim was born Nov. 27, 1921 in Yankton, S.D., the son of the late Edward and Alma (Gaither) Fitzgerald.
He married Marie Clary in Grass Valley, Calif.
Jim was a stock broker with Edward Jones prior to his retirement.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of Steamboat Springs; three sons, Tom Fitzgerald of Yankton, S.D., Jeff Fitzgerald and wife Mary Angela of Los Angeles and Matt Fitzgerald of Steamboat Springs; a daughter, Jean Fitzgerald of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren, Avery and Mike, and a great-grandson, Levi Shinkle.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert and a brother-in-law, Howard.
Memorial services were held May 24, 2001 in Yankton, S.D. Cremation has taken place. Peterson Funeral Home of Steamboat was in charge of local arrangements.
