Dennis Bossack passed away March 21 at the Colorado Home for Veterans in Rifle after a long, brave battle with a rare movement disorder, progressive supranucler palsy.

Dennis grew up in Warren, Michigan, and in the early 1970s enlisted in the Army intending to fly helicopters. Instead he was assigned to a post in Germany and shortly thereafter was among 300 men who tried out for the ski patrol at an armed forces R & R center in Garmisch, Germany. Dennis was one of three picked.

After honorable discharge from the Army, Dennis’ passion for skiing led him to Vail in 1982. He soon met and married Jane Brodziak and moved to East Vail. He enjoyed skiing, hiking and zooming around town on one of his many motorcycles.

His interest in art projects continued in Rifle, where his congenial nature made him a favorite of staff and residents alike.

Dennis worked various jobs in the ski and hotel business, most recently at the Ace Hardware, until his symptoms of his disease began in 2004. In 2014, he moved to the Colorado Community Living Center for Veterans in Rifle.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Jane, in Vail, and brothers Paul and Ken, in Michigan.

A celebration of life will be held on April 18 at the Rifle Veterans Home at 2 p.m.

The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the staff in Rifle for their kind and compassionate care.
