Ray Edward CHATFIELD was born March 15, 1886 in Ford City, Missouri. He came to Colorado at the age of three years, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh CHATFIELD, in a covered wagon and the family settled near Gypsum.
Mr. CHATFIELD graduated from State Agricultural College in Fort Collins in 1906, and returned to Gypsum. He married Rena MAYER in 1912 and they lived on a ranch near Gypsum, moving to a ranch they bought on Brush Creek near Eagle in 1928.
He was preceded in death by Rena. To this union was born one child, Wayne.
In 1957 Mr. CHATFIELD sold his ranch and moved to Eagle and moved to Arizona a few years later. He married Frances CRAMP in 1957.
He was a member of Castle Lodge AF&AM 122 at Eagle having recently received his 50-year pin in that organization.
He is survived by his wife; his son, Wayne of Wanaque, New Jersey; a step-son, Don KNUPP of Eagle and a sister Reena PARKINSON of Delta.
The funeral service was at the Eagle Methodist Church September 1 and burial was in Sunset View Cemetery.
