LESTER ROGERS BURIED IN GLENWOOD SPRINGS.
James Lester ROGERS, former Eagle County resident, died in Mt. View Nursing Home, in Glenwood May 5 at the age of 76 years.
Born in Shooting Creek, North Carolina January 8, 1889, Mr. Rogers ranched at Burns, Carbondale, Eagle and Sweetwater for 62 years. He was married to Florence PAYNE on June 14, 1919 in New Castle.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and a Veteran of World War I. Funeral services were conducted May 7 at the Methodist Church in Glenwood and burial was in that city. The Carbondale American Legion conducted Military graveside services.
Mr. ROGERS is survived by his wife; two sons, Gerold H., of Denver and Elwood of Carbondale; and one daughter, Elvera HAYNES of Grand Junction. A brother, Robert ROGERS of Rifle and 13 grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for James Lester ROGERS, 76, of Carbondale, were held here Friday at the First Methodist Church. Military graveside rites were held in Rosebud Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Florence ROGERS of Carbondale; two sons, Gearold ROGERS of Denver and Elwood ROGERS of Carbondale; a daughter, Mrs. Dolly Elvera HAYNES of Grand Junction; two sisters, Mrs. Sally LEDFORD of Shooting Creek, N.C., and Mrs. Lila PIERCE of Reno, Nev.; a brother, Robert ROGERS of Rifle; and 13 grandchildren.

Elwood ROGERS recollection of his dad:
Moved to Colorado in 1903. Finished growing up in the Burns, Eagle, and Sweetwater areas. Entered the war in 1918 and then got out and married to Florence Sarah PAYNE on June 14, 1919. Had Three Children Gearold Harley ROGERS, Dolly Elvera ROGERS, and Elwood Archie ROGERS. Homesteaded in Burns and Sweetwater Areas. Then Lived in the Glenwood Springs and Carbondale area till he died.
