Funeral services for longtime Gypsum resident Jack Clark were held Monday, March 6 at the Gypsum Community United Methodist Church.

Mr. Clark died Friday March 3 in Glenwood Springs. He was 67. Mr. Clark was born Nov 26, 1921 in Stillwell, OK, the son of Laura and Pierce Clark. He attended Gypsum Grade School and graduated from Eagle County High School. He spent most of his life in Eagle County. Mr. Clark served in the US Navy during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific as a torpedo man and seaplane tender. He was married March 23, 1945, in Reno, NV to JoAnn Phillips.

Following his discharge from military duty, the couple returned to Gypsum to make their home. Mr. Clark began employment at the New Jersey Zinc Mine at Gilman and worked there for more than 30 years until the mine closed.

He was happiest when he was on a camping trip with his family. He spent many hours working with young people in Little Britches Rodeos. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed all sports.

Surviving are his wife, JoAnn Clark of Gypsum; a son, Joe Clark of Grand Junction; a daughter Jean Clark of Salt Lake City, UT; three grandchildren, Sarah, Melissa and Jody; one sister, Ruby Schroeder of Aurora; 18 nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Clark and Cullen Clark.

The Rev. Jim Berggren, pastor the Gypsum Lutheran Church, officiated at Monday's funeral services. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum.
