Longtime Eagle County resident Alice Bessie Hook died Tuesday September 4 at the Villa Manor in Denver. She was 90 years old. She was the daughter of Ernest and Loura Cowman of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mrs. Hook was born Feb. 24, 1894 in Fort Dodge and was raised and educated in Iowa schools.

She married Thomas Carr in 1934 and the couple moved to Gypsum. Mr. Carr died in 1947 and Mrs. Hook moved to Minturn soon after to work as a waitress. In 1950, she married Troy Hook. He preceded her in death in 1976. Mrs. Hook is survived by her daughters, Ruth Gates of Minturna nd Dorothy Mason of Clear Lake, CA; her sister, Irene Barker of Albuquerque; 10 grandchildren. Graveside services for Mrs. Hook will be held Friday Sept. 7 at the Riverview Cemetery in Minturn.
