Steamboat Today - January 23, 2018
Alice Louise Freschi, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Ormond Beach, Florida on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. She was surrounded by her children.
Alice was born June 15, 1939 in Washington DC to Freddie and Ollie Bell. She spent most of her years in Maryland where she worked as a secretary for the Prince Georges Board of Education until she retired in 2004.
After retiring, Alice moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She remained there for 10 years enjoying time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. While in Steamboat, Alice volunteered at Yampa Valley Medical Center where she was awarded Volunteer of the Year.
Alice will especially be remembered for her warm, gentle smile, as well as her kind heart and gentle spirit. She was truly a giving, caring person.
Survivors include her daughters Christa Gardner and Josie Freschi, and her son Jay (Gina) Freschi. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren- David (Jennifer) Gardner, Chelsea Gardner, Jenilee (Shawn) Appel, Jay Michael Freschi, Brian Freschi, Anna Dean, and Smith Dean- and great-granddaughters Ava Appel, Zoe Appel, Lucy Gienger, and Elli Gienger. Alice was preceded in death by her loving sister, Diana Stewart.
Services will be held from 3-5 pm at The Community Center located at 1605 Lincoln Avenue in Steamboat Springs with drinks and appetizers to follow. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. Another celebration will occur in Maryland at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, and in the spirit of her endless giving spirit, donations are being made in her memory to the mission work of Michael and Natascha Benevides of Grace City Vegas. (gracecityvegas.com)
