Elizabeth "Willie" Williams,
age 76, passed away
peacefully on July 17, 2017.
Born March 22, 1941 in
Madison, Wisconsin, Willie
was the daughter of Robert
Williams and Margaret
Bukaty. Willie attended
parochial school and
graduated from Loretto Heights College in Denver, CO. She
was formally educated with a liberal arts background, evidenced
by her elegant cursive penmanship and impeccable grammar.
She excelled as a medical technician at Mercy Hospital until she
married and started her family with Jean Milan in 1965. They
had four children together.
After divorcing in 1980, Willie’s entrepreneurial spirit led her
to many sales and management positions, culminating in
owning and operating Sunshine Taxi and Western Slope Courier
in Grand Junction, CO along with her life and business partner
Richard "Rick" Carlisle. Together, they provided vital
transportation services to the Grand Valley for over 25 years
before retiring. With great personal sacrifice and dedication to
the community, they made sure the lights, coffee and cars were
always on, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Willie enjoyed spending quality time with her family, friends
and many beloved pets.
She is survived by her long-time partner, Richard Carlisle;
sons, Kelly, Joseph (Charlene Hernandez) and Glen (Karen
Douglas) Milan as well as her daughter, Donna Sage (Alan) and
seven grandchildren.
There will be no formal memorial service.
