Wesley John Harlan, 94, Clifton, died Oct. 18, 2017, in Clifton.
Services will take place at 4 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Grand Junction
Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He was the owner of Wes Harlan Trucking.
Survivors include his wife, Joann; four sons, Wesley John Jr. of
Vernal, Utah, Kenneth Gale of Pine Bluff, Wyoming, Curtis Jay
of Greenville, Texas, and Dana Lester of Portland, Oregon; five
daughters, Susan Carol Carlos of De Beque, Cathy Dawn Harlan of
Grand Junction, Theresa Ann Belleau of Thornton, Soli Ferguson
of Clifton, and Candy Lester of San Jose, California; one brother,
Gary Harlan of Monticello, Utah; one sister, Charleyne Dunn of
Grand Junction; 20 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Wesley John Harlan was
born to Charley Jay and Letha
(Barnhart) Harlan on August
16, 1923, in New Mexico. He
spent his youth in New
Mexico, until the family
moved to Colorado. He
graduated from Grand
Junction High School, and
went on to attend Mesa Junior
College.
Wes joined the U.S. Army
Air Corps, where he was a
Sergeant, and spent four years
in various countries during
WWII including China,
Burma, India, and Indochina.
He married JoAnn Harlan on
December 24, 1978 in
Escondido, CA.
Wes was a member of the
Seventh-day Adventist
Church. He enjoyed camping,
sports (especially golf),
football, hiking, and fishing. He had also lived in Moab, UT,
and Rulison, CO.
Mr. Harlan died on October 18, 2017, as a result of a bus
accident. He was 94 years old.
Wes is preceded in death by his siblings, Gale, and Lafaye, and
his first wife, Bertha, who passed away January, 1977 .
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, JoAnn Harlan; sons,
Wesley John Harlan, Jr. of UT; Kenneth Harlan of WY, and
Curtis Harlan of TX; daughters, Susan Harlan Carlos, Cathy
Harlan, and Theresa Harlan Belleau, all of CO; step-son, Dana
Lester of OR; step-daughters, Soli Ferguson of CA, and Candy
Lester, of CO; brother, Gary of UT; sister, Charleyne Harlan
Dunn of CO; 20 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
Services will take place on Saturday, October 28, 4:00 p.m., at
Grand Junction Seventh-day Adventist Church, 730 Mesa Ave.,
Grand Junction, with Pastors Fox and Goley officiating.
Any memorial contributions are appreciated to the Grand
Junction Seventh-day Adventist School.
