E. C. "Ed" Loshbaugh died at HopeWest Hospice on November 15, 2017. He was born to Harriette and Charles Loshbaugh of Rifle, Colorado, and is survived by his wife, Paula; his children, Stephen Loshbaugh of Meeker; Heidi Loshbaugh of Denver, and Gretchen Olson of Grand Junction, and grandchildren, Heath, Samuel, Catherine, Lukas, and Jakob. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Isabel Stack of Richmond, California, and Jeanne Friedlund of Grand Junction. Ed graduated from Colorado A & M (now Colorado State University), served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, and worked as an assay chemist for Union Carbide Mining and Metals Division. As avid gardeners, Ed and Paula created a beautiful botanical garden at their Grand Junction home. They received community recognition as Yard of the Month and were twice featured on the Western Colorado Botanical Society’s Garden Tour. Their willingness to share advice and plants is reflected in numerous gardens around the Grand Valley. A celebration of Ed’slife will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 536 Ouray, Grand Junction.
