Juliet Myers Heniford September 4, 1970 - November 15, 2017
Juliet Myers Heniford, 47, died Wednesday, November 15, in Grand Junction, Colorado. She moved back to Grand Junction in 2015 after spending the previous 14 years in York, South Carolina. Memorial services are set for 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction. The Rev. John Foreman will lead the services. She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Heniford. They both were active in church and outspoken advocates for the rights of handicapped individuals. Julie was born September 4, 1970, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Nancy A. McCarroll and her late father, Paul B. Myers. She was a mass communication graduate of Mesa State University and wrote for various newspapers and also on line. She had been a member of American Lutheran Church in Grand Junction and Epiphany Lutheran Church in York, SC. Despite being born with spina bifida, Julie set ambitious goals for her life and with strong determination. She met and exceeded them. All who knew her were impressed with her strength and depth of character. Julie enjoyed being with family, loved animals - especially dogs, and was known for her kindness and gentleness to all she met. She will be missed by her many friends who were often challenged in card games and word challenges, especially online. Juliet is survived by her mother, Nancy McCarroll; step-father, Gene Kinsey of Grand Junction, and sister, Heidy Myers of Denver. The family expresses their deep appreciation to the caring and professional staff at Mesa Manor Center and the residents who live there. Special thanks are also given to the professionals, staff, and volunteers at St. Mary’s Medical Center and HopeWest of Grand Junction. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeWest of Grand Junction.
