Howard S. Perry February 24, 1922 - June 7, 2018
Howard Spencer Perry passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Doris, and two of their three children, Linda and Carolyn. He is also survived by his brother, William Edward "Eddie" Hollett and sister, Dorothy (Hollett) Austin. He had six grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreatgrandchild. He was 96. Howard was born in Montrose, Colorado on February 24th, 1922, to Warren Perry and Bessie Hollett. His family moved to Norwood, CO where he spent most of his childhood, schooling and working on the Hollett family farm. At age 15, Howard and the family moved to Gooding, Idaho. After five years of tough farming, the family moved to Uravan, CO where the mining years began. In 1941, WWII had begun. Howard made the courageous decision to enlist in the Army and serve his country. He was stationed in North Africa and Italy during the war, and was honorably discharged in January, 1946. Following the war, Howard spent many years in the mining industry in California, Nevada and Colorado, followed by owning and operating the Isis Café in Montrose. He managed an aluminum foundry in Grand Junction and spent years as a government contractor in various parts of the country. In 1996, at the age of 74, Howard purchased TP Acoustics. It began as a small acoustic ceiling company and has since grown into a successful commercial contracting business servicing the Western Slope and beyond. Through all his career changes, Doris stood by his side. Days before his passing they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Howard spent his life being generous to family, friends and strangers. His family has no doubt that he is now in a better place, finally getting to see his beloved daughter, Julie, again. Howard is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Anne (Perry) Aragon; brother, Vernon Oscar Hollett; sister, Evelyn Lois (Perry) Seymour; sister, Gladys Belle (Perry) Cheney; mother, Bessie Leona (Morris) Hollett, and father, Warren A. Perry. Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, June 16th, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Flowers may be sent to 2686 Carol Place, Grand Junction, 81506, or in lieu of flowers, you may make a donation, in his honor, to HopeWest Hospice, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
