Shirley (McBeth) Lent July 23, 1937 - September 14, 2018
Shirley Jean (McBeth) Lent passed from this life, surrounded by family, at Saint Mary’s, September 14, 2018, at 3:38 p.m. A third generation Coloradian, Shirley exuded warmth, courage, and love. She was born to Burt and Lilly (Allen) McBeth in Leadville, July 23, 1937, the youngest of eight; survived by Richard McBeth. Married 63 years to Gene Lent, Shirley had a strong and loving marriage. They lived in Grand Junction raising a close-knit family. Shirley was an amazing matriarch. She is preceded in death by daughter, Candy Ferguson (Scott), and survived by daughters, Vickie Peterson (Mike) and Diana Goucher (Brent). Her family grew to include six grandchildren, Kris, James, Jeramie, Adriane, Sabrina, and Christopher; seven great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Korde, Oliver, Serenity, Lyndie, Grayson, and Hazel; great-great-granddaughter, Kayelyn, and countless others she considered her own. Shirley had an entrepreneurial spirit, working from switchboard operator to manager for Mountain Bell Communications until retirement. She later operated a clothing store. Shirley treasured her close friend circle. She enjoyed traveling, visiting friends, and caring for her family. She is loved beyond measure and genuinely missed. A remembrance celebration is planned for 1:00 p.m., September 29th, at Moose Lodge. In lieu of flowers please donate to HopeWest Hospice.

Shirley Jean Lent, 81, Grand Junction, died Sept. 14, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 29, at the Moose Lodge. She was a telephone supervisor. Survivors include her husband, Gene A.; two daughters, Vickie Kaye Peterson of Loma and Diana Goucher of Craig; one brother, Richard McBeth of Sun City Arizona; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Memorial contributions to HopeWest Hospice, 3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junction, 81506.
