Bertha “Bertie” Mae Long Richards March 11, 1923 – February 14, 2020
Bertha “Bertie” Mae Long Richards passed away, peacefully in her sleep, on February 14, 2020 in Grand Junction. Bertie was born in Monte Vista on March 11, 1923 to Joseph and Agnes Long and lived to be nearly 97 years old. She was the youngest of five children. Bertie was well known on the golf courses wherever she lived which, include Colorado, Oregon and Saudi Arabia and played golf into her 90’s. Two children, Judy and Doug, preceded her in death as well as her husband of more than 57 years, Dr. Hugh Richards. She is survived by Greg (Robin) Richards in Hayden, CO, Ann (Ed) Strazdes in Louisville CO, Ken (Nancy) Smith in Pueblo CO and Susan (Jay) Kemmer in Loveland CO. She was very close to her stepchildren Hugh III, Bruce, Tom, Pam and Marianne. Numerous grand and great grandchildren also survive her. Bertie and Hugh traveled extensively and spent a lot of time camping and hiking throughout the Western United States. She will be dearly missed by all, may she rest in peace. At her request, there will be no services.
