HOWARD LINDOW: 1919-1987
Howard E. Lindow, 67, died in Presbyterian Hospital in Denver on Friday, April 10, 1987, following a brief illness. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 21, at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Steamboat Springs. Interment was in Minneapolis, Minn. Born on June 1, 1919, he graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota Schools of Business Administration and Engineering. While at the university, he was captain of the swimming team and served on a number of student committees. During World War II he was a lieutenant in the Navy, taught at the U.S Naval Academy and later served in the Philippines. Following his retirement from 3M Company after 25 years employment, he moved to Steamboat Springs in 1978. Until his death he was owner-operator of the Pine Grove Restaurant.
Lindow was active in a number of civic and service organizations. He served as a director on the Demolay executive council, was former director of the National Industrial Real Estate Development Council and served on the board of directors of the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association. He was a member of Rotary International, the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Minnetonka Yacht Club of Minneapolis.
He leaves his widow, Elizabeth; sister Lois Peterson of Seattle, Wash.: brother Donald Fillmore of Minneapolis; son David Lindow of Steamboat Springs; daughter Virginia Lindow of Denver; stepdaughter Sarah Hale of Minneapolis; two stepsons, Frank and John Lodomis of Minneapolis; and three grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be made in his name to Routt Memorial Hospital or to the donor's choice.
