Eagle Valley Enterprise - March 4, 1965

Mrs. Martha Tipton of Minturn died in the Leadville hospital on February 19, 1965 after a week's illness. She was 74 years of age.
Martha Shytte was the daughter of Swen and Mary Shytte, born July 2 0, 1890 in Leadville. On her birthday in 1908 she was married to O.J. Tipton in Leadville.
She had been a resident of Minturn since 1900, receiving her education in Minturn and Denver.
An accomplished pianist, she accompanied big-name bands in the west as a young woman and supplied piano accompaniment for the silent day movie films in the Eagle River Valley.
Her husband preceded her in death several years ago. She is survived by three sisters-in-law: Jessie Bryant, Provo, Utah; Ada Forsythe, Nebraska and Bertha Balba, Durant, Calif.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, February 22 in the Minturn Assembly of God Church by Reverend Ray McBee and internment was in the Minturn cemetery. The Leadville Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Clem Moreland, James Cline, Wm. Burnett, Albert Gustafson, Harvey Cline, and Dave Hamilton.
