“Ron” passed away
November 22, at the VA
Hospital. He was the son
of Walter W. and Alma
I. Groves, of Fruita, and
spent most of his life in
Fruita, CO.
He is survived by sons, Shawn, Trinity, and
Michael, of Fruita, and Terry (Amanda), of Michigan;
granddaughter, Hazel; brothers, Marvin (Ronda), of
Fruita, and Jim (Deb), of Arizona, and sisters, Sue
(Tom) Downey and Karen (Jerry) Orth, of Fruita. He is
preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Elton J.
Russell, who passed Thanksgiving Day.
After graduating high school he joined the Navy and
saw many countries. After returning home, he helped
with the family farm and cattle operation. He was a
CPRCA rodeo judge for many years which he enjoyed.
He had a freeze branding business for many years and
branded horses all over the state. He worked as a union
carpenter on various projects around western Colorado.
Services were held Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at
the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado
