George, 90, was born
to Joseph and Elenore
(Adams) Burtard in
Denver, CO, and passed
away on February 17, 2022,
at his home, surrounded by
his family.
George married Patricia Jane Fenton on June 25,
1952, in Denver CO. They were married for 67 years.
George was raised on a farm in Arvada. He served in
the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany
where his wife joined him and together they used his
leave time to see Europe. George worked 25 years as a
trailer fabricator, and lead foreman for Timpte Trailer
in Denver. He built a home in Arvada for his family
to live. In 1975 George moved his family to Grand
Junction, where he started his own business, West Park
Truck Equipment. When George retired he built a home
in Mesa, CO, where he and his wife resided. He built it
large enough for the whole family to get together. George
and Patricia later made a home in Grand Junction.
George was preceded in death by his parents, wife,
and two brothers; Joseph and Donald Burtard.
George is survived by his sister, Mary Owen;
children, Catherine Burtard, Patricia (Bill) DeRose,
Barbara Quinn, Christine (Dan) Benson, David
(Melissa Watson) Burtard, and Brian (Kim) Burtard;
14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many
nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass and reception at 9:30 a.m. on March 4,
2022, at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Grand Junction.
Burial 1:00 p.m., March 4, 2022, at Veteran’s Memorial
