Beach
January 17, 1932 - April 19, 2022
Jack Beach of Fruita, CO,
passed away peacefully, at
the age of 90, after a few
months of declining health
issues.
He was born January
17, 1932, to Steve and Ilo
Beach in Yuma, CO. The family eventually moved to
Steamboat Springs, Ridgway, DeBeque, and Fruita
where they ranched, raising foundation bred Quarter
Horses and quality cattle. Jack’s cowboy years were
dedicated to his love for ranch life, family and friends. He
loved competing in rodeos and showing Quarter Horses
in the AQHA where he earned numerous awards. He
appreciated a good horse and was proud that the horses
he used on the ranch could go to the arena or horse show
and win. He earned the respect of many cowboys with
his ranch horses and race horses. He enjoyed the day
to day work of ranching, and also the thrill of chasing
and gathering wild cattle in the rough country of the
Bookcliffs with many of his cowboy friends. His love
for rodeo lasted his entire life and he traveled to many
rodeos all across the States and Canada. He religiously
went to Cheyenne Frontier Days - most recently in July
of 2021 with kids and grand kids!!
Jack served in the Army during the Korean War and
kept in touch with his “Army Buddies” throughout his
life. He was proud to be a Veteran.
Jack was a lucky man to have the love of two great
women and five children. He married Beverly Koch
in 1957. They raised their kids and spent their lives
supporting anything the kids wanted to do. Their home
was the gathering place for all their kids friends, and
many of those friends considered Jack and Bev to be
their second parents. Many get-togethers happened in
that house.
After Beverly passed away in 1992, Jack and Louise
Doyal became partners for life. They enjoyed many
years traveling and also spending time with family and
friends. They took great care of one another!
Jack worked for the Colorado Division of Wildlife
for many years doing work that he truly enjoyed! He
retired in 2017 at the age of 85. (yes! 85) They couldn’t
get rid of him because he liked the work and loved the
people. His “Division” friends became like family and
they were so supportive of him through the years and
even during these past few difficult months, many made
such kind gestures to keep his spirits up.
Jack spent his life enjoying and watching his kids and
grandkids compete in sports and rodeos. He was always
in the grandstands! Hunting, fishing and camping were
favorite pastimes, especially with family and good
friends. He never lost his shooting ability, amazing
his grandkids every time they went hunting or target
shooting.
His kindness and empathy were always on display. He
always offered help to people during tough times. If he
was your friend, you were friends for life, and Jack was
blessed with a lot of those. He was loyal always, and his
handshake meant something when he made a deal. He
cherished his family and friendships more than fame or
fortune. He will be remembered and missed!
Jack is survived by his life partner, Louise Doyal;
children, Kent (Sue) Beach, Steve (Mikeque) Beach,
Rex Beach, Jake (Janelle) Beach, and Linda (Pat)
Forrest; grandchildren, Deanna Beach (Scott), Kara
Beach, Sean Beach, J.C. Forrest (Whitney), Caitlin
