Dr. Robert (Bob) Rhyne
passed away on May 31,
2023, in Arizona, at the age
of 89. Dr. Rhyne served
as Director of the Grand
Junction, CO, VA Medical
Center from 1989 to 1998.
He earned a Bachelor’s
Degree from Kansas State
University in 1955, a DDS
degree from the University
of Missouri-Kansas City
in 1959, a Master’s Degree in Oral and Maxillo-Facial
Pathology in 1970, and served eight years as National
Director for all Department of Veteran Affairs Dental
Services, among his many other lifetime accomplishments.
Dr. Rhyne retired from the United States Air Force in 1992
with the rank of Colonel.
Dr. Rhyne is survived by his wife Paula, two children,
four grandchildren, and one sister. A military service with
honor guard will be held at the Fort Scott, Kansas, National
Cemetery on October 12, 2023 at 1:30 pm. The family requests any tributes be sent to the Kansas State University
Endowment Fund (ksufoundation.org).
