Gregory Wayne Sneesby, 77, died on November 23, 2023 surrounded in love by his wife, children, and sister, at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Born September 24, 1946 to Roger and Gladys (Deyo) Sneesby, in Wheatland, Wyoming, he spent his early childhood in Chugwater before moving to the family farm in Carpenter. He attended Carpenter Elementary School and High School, graduating in 1965. He was active in 4-H and Future Farmers of America, raising registered Hampshire sheep and swine, and was selected as an FFA State Farmer.
He was a proud graduate of University of Wyoming, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta and earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1970. It was at the university that he met Karine Gard, whom he married in June 1969. They were married for 54 years and had three children Ann (Aaron Koch) Sneesby-Koch, Eric (Stephanie) Sneesby, and Ashley (Russell Stippich) Sneesby.
Greg’s job as a project engineer on missile sites, among other vocations, took the family on many adventures moving to North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, California, and Colorado. Greg and Karine returned to Wyoming for good and built their dream home in Carpenter on the family farm, where he was an organic wheat farmer and spoiled his dogs.
Greg loved fast cars, particularly his 1966 Corvette Stingray, and loud music (he was known to sneak AC/DC into the Christmas morning playlist). He was a voracious reader and crossword puzzler. He could fix or build anything; he had a knack for mechanics and carpentry. He’ll be remembered, among his amazing accomplishments as a husband, father, brother and friend, for his sense of humor and legendary eye-rolls.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his sister, Karen Sneesby Deyo of Evanston, Wyoming, and his grandchildren Beatrix Koch and Roger Koch of Denver, Colorado.
Please consider, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Davis Hospice Center, Cheyenne’s St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, or the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. A Memorial service is planned for December 7 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Cheyenne.
