Ernest was born in Denver, Colorado. Ernie is survived by his Sister, Sherrill Dorman of Pinedale, Wyoming, Wife, Garnet Johnson, Son, Steve Johnson of Casper, Wyoming, and Daughter, Sylvia Clark of Mack, Colo. he was proceeded in death by his Father, Ernest R. Johnson, and his Mother, Thelma F. Johnson. Ernie was born and raised in Denver, Colo. Ernie's parents moved the family to Boulder, Wyoming and homesteaded a ranch for 7 years, then the family moved back to Denver, Colo. Ernie graduated from Westminster High School, where he met and married the love of his life, Garnet M. Johnson on August 20, 1960. Ernie and Garnet started their family with a son, Stephen E. Johnson in Denver, Colo. And they proceeded with their journey together and moved to Grand Junction, Colo. They had a daughter Sylvia M. Johnson. After raising their children, Ernie and Garnet moved to Palisade, Colo. And then they moved up to Cedaredge, Colo. And opened Unique Treasures Antique Store.
Ernest has owned and operated several of Businesses and Chrome Shops on the Western Slope. He also worked for the Rio Grande Railroad for 12 years until he took his Buyout. Ernest was known as "Swede" to a lot of people, especially in the Stock Car Racing World, he had a need for speed and he loved his Nascar, he was also active with the Lands End Hill Climbs. Ernest and Garnet's health declined so they moved to Benson, Arizona. Ernest was diagnosed with Alzheimer's/Dementia in 2020. Ernest started his Santa adventure in 1979 at J.C. Penny's on Main Street in Grand Junction, Colo. And became well known at the Smith Haven Mall on Long Island in New York where hi finished out his Santa adventure. Ernest was very close with his family, including his Brother-N-Law, Hank Dorman and all of his friends that he has met along the way. Ernest leaves behind his Sister, Sherrill Dorman, Wife, Garnet Johnson, Son, Steve Johnson, Daughter, Sylvia Clark, Son-N-Law, Clarence, # Grandchildren, Scott, Ashley and her Husband, Steve, and Cassie and her Husband, Milo. And 5 Great Grandchildren, Zach, Matt, River, Hunter and Logan. Ernest will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Services will be held at a later date. In Lieu of Flowers, Think and Believe in Santa Claus.
