Funeral services were held in Salida Wednesday, Dec. 17 for John Henry Alber. Rev. George Peck of the Church of Ascension officiated at the service in the Chapel of Vision.
Six of Mr. Alber's seven sons were pallbearers and interment was in Fairview cemetery. John Held accompanied by Jolene Van Meter sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Old Rugged Cross."
Mr. Alber was born at Whitenberg, Germany July 12, 1870 and came to the United States at the age of 12. He settled at Breckenridge, Colorado, where he married Miss Hulda Frick Sept. 8, 1897, and was engaged in the grocery business until his retirement a few years ago. He lived in Minturn for ten years before moving to Salida four years ago.
Mr. Alber is survived by his wife, Hulda; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Anderson of Denver, and his seven sons: Harold E. Alber, San Mateo, unable to attend the funeral; Carl, Grand Valley; Raymond, Pueblo; Edwin, Salida; John Henry Jr.; Herman and Richard of Minturn; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
