Funeral services for Basalt resident Donald Alvin Grant, 47, will be held June 3 at the Farnum Brown Chapel in Glenwood Springs. Father Thomas Bradtke will officiate.
Grant died March 29, 1976, in an avalanche on Nast Mountain, 20 miles northeast of Basalt. He was engineering equipment operator for the Bureau of Reclamation at the time of his death. Grant was born on March 22, 1929 in Crested Butte, Colorado and lived most of his life in Basalt. In 1951 he married Eugenia Marie Hyrup. The deceased is survived by his wife Eugenia and his three sons, Daniel, Douglas, and Richard of Basalt. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. William Ervin Grant, P.E. and his sister Mrs. Leo Letey. Grant was a veteran of the US Army service 1946-47 in japan. he was a member of the American Legion of Basalt, the VFW, and the Carbondale Masonic Lodge.
