"Along with the move of the county seat came an obligation to build a modern county courthouse. Designed by renowned architect J. Francis Pillsbury, the Eagle County Courthouse was constructed in 1932 at a cost of $60,000. The sheriff's office was on the basement floor along with living quarters for the jailer. Jim Seabry, in uniform, Sheriff of Eagle County, Colorado, for 16 years. After his stint as sheriff, he served two four-year terms as mayor of Eagle. Jim was born February 23, 1913, Leadville, Colorado. He died Oct. 29, 1996.
